Recently, I had one of my oldest and best friends – E over to the house for a few drinks on Saturday night. Drinks on the back deck naturally ended with us sitting in my walk-in and purging all my drawers stuffed with beauty products. There are some products out there that I just love but don’t work for me and I tend to pass them along instead of chuck them because they might work better for someone else.
At one point E turned to me and with a surprised look holding a bottle of primer and said “You still use E.l.f?”Let me take you back 15 years to when E.l.f was not a brand that you could find up here in the Great White North (Canada) and I would stock up whenever we would go to New York and there was panic when my stash was running low.
I have tried so many different ridiculously expensive primers in my life – each claiming to be the best primer out there! In 2016, InStyle Magazine came right out there and said the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer was the one to beat. (They awarded it the Best Primer of 2016 Award) Obviously, I ran upstairs and jumped on the Sephora website to order my own $63.00 bottle of magic. ($63.00 + tax for ONE OZ?!?!)
Can you just listen to this one thing…. it is exactly the same as my E.l.f. Poreless Face Primer which costs me $7.97. It is a total dupe. Plus, I love that it is infused with Tea Tree and Vitamins A&E. I have been using this for years and I haven’t found anything worth changing for.
Please save yourself the extra $55.03 by buying the E.l.f primer and then take your best friend for sushi with the savings. You can thank me later!
If you have ever tried either of these, please leave a comment and let me know what you think. Also, let me know if you want to see other drugstore dupes for high end products.
