Jambalaya. Just say the word out loud and tell me you don’t have a smile on your face after. I don’t know, I love saying the word Jambalaya. When my boyfriend and I started living together, I started to try and master the kitchen. I would spend hours trying every recipe I could find and quickly found things that stuck and things that stank.
I had never in my life heard of Jambalaya nor did I have any idea what it would taste like. I came across a recipe in one of the many cookbooks I buried my head in that first year and I remember being so excited to try this. I love all the ingredients that were listed and could only imagine them all mixed together. 5 years of making this and I have it down to a science. I don’t remember which book I found the first recipe in but I have given it a few kicks and changes over the years and I am sure I have strayed very far from it by now.

I have talked about this before so it is not a secret that I have really dark under eyes. I have tried so many eye creams and serums to try and brighten the area but I come up empty handed most times.
In October I received a .5oz tube of CONTEXT SKIN’s Vitamin C All Day Eye Cream and truthfully, I didn’t have high expectations for this based on previous attempts with similar products and I really didn’t know anything about the brand.
CONTEXT SKIN is an American company that prides itself on a few core goals and promises that I can really appreciate and be thankful for. They do not test any of their products on animals which makes me very comfortable to support. Also, all of their products are made with high-quality ingredients and are free of toxic chemicals.
All of these things are fantastic and make for a desirable brand, but does it work? Continue reading “It’s all about CONTEXT.”
I am truthfully starting to feel like I live in the land of perpetual sickness. It seems that whenever I think I am over this bug and there is a light at the end of the tunnel, it comes creeping right back!
My immune system has always been pretty nonexistent and I seem to be sick more often than my friends and family. It probably doesn’t help that I have chronic strep throat. Basically what that means is, I always have the illness but it doesn’t appear or become contagious until someone around me is sick and their germs kick start my strep throat.
With the change in the weather lately, everyone around me is starting to sniffle and I know its a matter of days before I’m under the covers feeling crappy. So, in an effort to keep myself healthy and happy I decided to make my own immune boosting Honey, Lemon & Ginger Jar.
The concept is as simple as it sounds…. honey, lemon and ginger layered together in a jar and kept in the fridge. Every evening, before getting ready to grab Pug and snuggle on the couch with my boyfriend for a little TV time to end the day, I add a couple spoonfuls to a mug of warm water and sip on it before heading to bed.
