Who are you?

Week after week I share my life with you. I put my thoughts on display and open the door to your comments, feedback and suggestions. I confess my secrets to you. I display my style and talk about the things I love and the things I hate with you. I even invite you into my kitchen and share my recipes with you.

It dawned on me that you know these things about me, but I don’t know much about you. I can see the stats and I know where in the world you are from and how you ended up at my blog but I don’t know you.

I thought it would be fun to do something a little different today. I want to build a community with you and a place where everyone like minded can come and express themselves and get to know each other. There is so much negativity out there, I want this blog to be a really safe and encouraging place for everyone.

That being said, lets play a game!

I’ll share three personal truths and one lie with you and I would love for you to do the same and we can guess what are the truths and which is the lie! I read all my comments so please leave one with your own three truths and a lie.

Here we go….

1. I have never successfully solved a Rubik’s Cube

2. I can speak French fluently

3. I have never eaten a Big Mac

4. I have read the newspaper while floating in the Dead Sea

Which one of those is the lie?

I am really looking forward to hearing what you think and picking out your lie!

Happy love day.

Happy Valentine’s Day (almost)! Who’s excited? Who’s not? I have mixed feelings about it to be honest, but I’m all about having an excuse to celebrate.

If you are not a big fan of Valentine’s Day but you are a fan of self-love and pampering… February 14th can be a really great day for you! In case you haven’t noticed, I am truly  diving into the concept of self-love and care lately and I am not ashamed of it one bit! It is so important to not only like yourself but love yourself! You are the only version of you and why not put your best self out there?

No matter what your relationship status is, February 14th is about love…end of story! If you find yourself flying solo this year – get out and spend the day or night with yourself by doing some of these fun activities.

Get a mani/pedi.

Not a super original idea, but how often do you really treat yourself to a full manicure and pedicure sesh? If it’s not that often, call your nail salon and book it…right now. Sit in a comfy pedicure chair and get that back massage going while your at it!

Get a blowout.

In the same vein as heading to get your nails done, head to a local blow dry bar and let the hair magicians work their magic. There’s really nothing better than having someone wash your hair (and give you a head massage, omggg) and then take the time to make your hair look amazing and that’s such a nice gift to yourself. Also, they usually serve champagne at blow dry places so…

Take a nap!

For all you working mamas or just tired females in general, take an extra long nap. Nothing feels better and and is more precious than sleep, especially when it’s during the day. If it’s bright outside wear a little eye mask, turn of your phone(!) and you’ll be asleep in no time.

Treat yourself to a bubble bath.

This is one of my most favorite ways to decompress and I hardly do it often enough. If you’re a bath fan, a real treat is to skip the shower and draw yourself a little bath. Get some bubbly (champagne and actual bubbles), play spa music or something relaxing, and just chillll. I’m also a big fan of using some sort of bath tray to keep my drink(s), a book, a yummy candle, whatever – it just adds to the pampering feels.

Dance class + green juice.

OK, hear me out on this before scrolling past. Maybe a workout and a veggie drink doesn’t sound amazing, but think about all the good that comes with both. Time to focus on your body and health. You’ll have endorphins from the workout and if you bring a few friends along, you’re guaranteed to have a blast and a couple laughs in the class. Follow it up with a big green juice or a healthy meal and pamper yourself in the form of your health! This is such a good idea if you’ve been traveling or just feeling blah lately. Plus, if you are flying solo this year you can meet some new single girlfriends.

Get your makeup done.

Grab your mom or a girlfriend and head to the makeup counter. Let a professional give you a full makeup makeover, maybe grab a few new products that you love, then head out to dinner or somewhere fun. Much like a blow dry, having someone else do this mundane beauty step is a serious present to yourself.

Get a facial or massage.

Another one of my favorites! Pamper yourself with a full spa day or at the least a facial or massage, especially if you’ve been stressed lately. If the spa isn’t realistic, take some time to test out a new face mask and just relax at home!

Eat your favorite meal.

Do you have a certain restaurant that you absolutely love or a meal you dream about? Go get it! Pampering yourself isn’t just with beauty, it involves spoiling yourself and indulging in general! Forget about the calories or whatever is holding you back from getting your favorite meal and just go – especially if you’ve been focused on being healthy recently #TreatYoSelf.

Do absolutely nothing, without guilt.

Don’t get me wrong, everything on this list sounds so freakin’ amazing, but sometimes we just need to do nothing. Sit on your couch with endless reality TV shows or a book, whatever you don’t get to do enough of. No judgements. Forget your to-do list or what you should be doing and just veg out. And enjoy it!

So… what are you doing tomorrow night?

Happy Love Day – Candy Cane Oreo Peppermint Bark

Sure, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne are great but have you tried Candy Cane Oreo Peppermint Bark and Rosé? It may sound like a mouth-full but it is slowly becoming my favorite thing about Valentine’s Day.

Usually all the festive bark recipes flood the internet around the Christmas season but I’m not mad about seeing it during Valentine’s! Are you?

If you have never made a bark before, do not be intimidated!! This is one of the fastest and easiest things you can make… it requires -10 skills and there is really no way possible to mess it up!

This is the perfect pick me up to bring into the office on Valentine’s Day or an even better snack if you’re spending Valentine’s Day with a bunch of girlfriends and wine!

bark 1

Here is what you will need:

♥ 1lb vanilla candy coating (white chocolate chips will work just as well if you have them)

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

1 tablespoon of melted butter

15 Candy Cane flavored Oreos. If your grocery store doesn’t have this flavor, any kind will be just as good!)

2-4 tablespoons of crushed candy cane

Here is what you will need to do:

Over low heat, melt the vanilla candy coating. Be sure to stir constantly or you will burn the candy coating and/or the pot.

Add oil and butter to your pot and stir well. Add in 2/3 of the crushed Oreos and continue to mix well.

Pour onto your lined baking sheet and spread to the thickness you want. Sprinkle reserved Oreo pieces and candy cane on top.

refrigerate for at least a half hour.

Happy love day everyone!

How are you spending Valentine’s Day?
