Real Talk

If we were having tea…

So, if you have been hanging around the blog for some time now you would likely notice that the majority of my posts are on the longer or heavier side and if you know me personally, you know that I am a perfectionist. With those two key facts in hand, this one might come as a bit of a shock to you! …I want to try something new!

You may have heard of or even read If We Were Having Coffeebefore and if you haven’t – well, you really should! I wanted to take this idea and do a bit of a spin on it because as much as I do enjoy a cup of Jo, I would much prefer a spot of tea.

Here we go… a whole new section of the blog – If we were having tea…

Without further ado, thank you for stopping by for a bit of caffeine and catching up. Wait, before I get too far into the conversation lets pause. I encourage you to pull up a comfy chair while you let me brew us a warm pot of tea.

There, now let’s catch up!

If we were having tea I would tell you that there has been a ton of stuff going on lately and for the first time in what seems like forever, I am in a really good space both mentally and physically!

I would tell you that I have really been enjoying the beautiful summer weather we have been having and I’ve been trying to spend as much time outside as possible. Yes, you would probably give me a look that says “I know you… you don’t really do outdoors” and I would have to correct myself and say that by outdoors I mean specifically sitting on patios drinking sangria, going to as many small town festivals as possible and just lounging under the stars in the backyard with friends. (and a cooler!)

If we were having tea I would tell you that I have been at my new company for just over a year now. I was skeptical about it at first because I don’t typically do well with change but after a year I am really glad I made the jump and I’ve found my groove here! The company I was with before here, I was there for 5 and half years and in both a Partner position and a management role and although it was great and I was really good at what I do, I just felt I needed to see what the rest of the industry had to offer. The company I work for now really invests in their employees and it is such a great feeling to be both wanted and needed instead of just one or the other.

If we were having tea I would tell you that things are really great at home also. It seems like the rest of the world lately has been having issues with their relationships and although there was a time in my life where I could relate to that, right now I am feeling guilty that I can’t. Maybe guilty isn’t the right word and maybe it’s rude for me to gloat but we as humans never give enough credit when things are going well, we only seem to comment when they are rough. I’ m not afraid to shout it from the rooftops, I’M HAPPY!!

I would probably refill my mug at this point, lots of sugar, lots of almond milk – unless I’m being lazy and didn’t grocery shop this week, in which case I’ll have regular milk.

If we were having tea I would tell you that physically I’m feeling good also. I would share with you that I have scoliosis, bad knees, I’m anemic and I suffer from horrible seasonal allergies! These things combined on a good day can make it rough but in the summer it feels like the pain is more manageable than the winter so my body just feels better! The anemic side I can’t do much about but I keep an eye on my food intake and well, allergies… those just suck but I get by with some medication. I’ve also made the effort to get back into yoga and when I can’t make it to a class I do make time at home to do some stretches.

If we were having tea I would ask you how you were doing. I would say I hope everything is going well and that if things weren’t I am here to listen to you too. I would ask you if you needed anything, if there was any way I could help and I would hope you would tell me if there was. I would drink the last of my tea, the sugary part that collects art the bottom. I would thank you for the chat and tell you this was nice. I would tell you to have a good day and a good rest of the week. I would say we should get together like this more often. I would walk you out and wish you good luck.

If we were having tea, what would you tell me?
