Holiday Gift Guide – For Him Edit.

Happy holidays!

First off, I want to apologize for the minor hiatus that was happening over here in my little corner of the internet. I have been trying to spend a bit more time on Instagram lately as a quicker and easier way of connecting with you and as a result I haven’t found a moment to sit down and pound away at the keyboard. But, here I am! Back at it and pretty excited!

When it comes to the holidays and shopping, I always struggle with my boyfriend the most. It also doesn’t help that his birthday is in December also so I get hit with a double whammy of pressure to find the perfect gifts that he will love.

If you are anything like me, gift shopping for your man can really be a struggle. They never want anything and anything that they may need, they’ve already run out and bought it themselves! I am big into “experience” gifts though like tickets to an event or a fun excursion on our vacations and I will use those as a fall back idea from time to time.

This year I thought maybe we could help each other out and put our heads together here and come up with a bomb list of ideas!! Let me know what you think in the comment section and what your gift plans are this holiday season. Also, what are you asking Santa for this year?

Backpack – Swap out that nasty old excuse of a backpack your man has likely had from either high school or university and get him a brand new one. My boyfriend loves his new backpack for the comfort and storage size and I love it because I am a sucker for the color. I was envious of his cool new backpack this summer and bought myself this one which is fairly similar and I love it even more.

Headphones, I am still a fan of the wired ones and to compensate with the lack of jacks in the new iPhones, I just use the adapter. However, Apple AirPods are super popular and make for a really great gift. I find them expensive but seems like they are here to stay and at least Apple has free shipping. Personally, I am a fan of these plugged in ones more than the wireless.

I am obsessing over these little gems of a find!! My boyfriend and I each have our own mugs we prefer and all hell breaks loose when I catch him sipping his Cup o’ Joe out of my Pug Life mug!! Is it so hard to just not do that? Does this happen at your house or am I just way to anal? I am adding these his and her mugs to my check out for sure this year! Plus, they are totally picture perfect material!

BBQ tools… every man wants them and lucky for us gift givers, they need them! I have taken the cheap route out before when it comes to BBQ tools and I’ll tell you this – you get what you pay for. For a great quality but still basic set I would recommend this set. And, a burger press makes a great stocking stuffer to go along with the theme as well as skewers and sauces. If he already has all his grill accessories, maybe signing him up for Grill Master Club is a better idea. Subscription boxes aren’t just for us women!

Are there men out there that moisturize their face and body anymore or have these ideas gone the way of unicorns? My boyfriend just hates creams and claims they all cause him to breakout. This obviously isn’t true because I know he dips into mine occasionally and thinks I can’t smell it on his face. I pick and choose my battles. That being said, I have heard really great things about the Clinique Maximum Hydrator which is specifically made for men. I may just leave this on the counter and see how long it take him to try it and tell me he was wrong.

Male or female, old or young, the most important thing you can have in the winter (especially here in Canada) is dry and warm feet! Winter boots are always a welcomed gift idea and these are both stylist and practical so it is a win win for everyone! If you are looking for a pair for yourself, I suggest these ones that I just got for my birthday and can’t wait to wear out in the snow!

That is about it for now, I am sure as we get closer and closer I will add to my list and if you keep an eye on my Instagram (@LiveLaughLearn.blog), I’ll notify you when I do add things. What do you have going on your list so far? I would love to hear and get some inspiration on things I may be missing! Also, have you put up your tree yet? We are doing ours this weekend and I’m having a few little elves help me with it, be sure to follow my IG stories on Saturday!!

Until next time, happy shopping!

XOXO.

How much is YOUR face worth?

This thought literally blew my mind when I started thinking about in detail.

Women on average apply a minimum of 16 products a day to their face before they even walk out the door and start their day!

Women’s routines are becoming faster than ever now. The average woman spends just 12 minutes on their morning cleansing routine and makeup application. I would think this is a result of skincare products evolving and becoming much more advanced and profession than ever before – meaning your skin needs less time for correcting.

Everyone is always in a hurry today and it is difficult to find the time to spend on ourselves. In addition to the 12 minutes in the morning, it seems we on average spend 6 minutes a night removing our makeup and going about our nighttime skincare routine. Some ladies like myself, opt to carry our regime overnight as well. Specialist nourishing moisturizers and serums help to repair your skin while you’re sleeping and correcting signs of anti-aging. This is a dynamic duet I can get behind!

Take a moment and grab a pen and paper.

7 hygiene habits to ditch in your 20s because, there’s no more room for excuses.

I’ve talked about it before but your 20s are that weird decade where you simultaneously feel like a kid and an adult. I think that because this is my last year as a 20something, I have become obsessed with it!  We often still follow our old habits from college or even high school that are totally teenager appropriate, but don’t exactly spell responsible adult. But as your teens slip further away and 30 inches closer, there are several hygiene habits you should ditch in your 20s. You may have gotten away with them ten years ago, but some of these things just aren’t going to fly any longer.

As you’ve probably heard a million times, things change when you age. You can’t necessarily get away with things that you did when you were young because your body and skin are changing, so it’s important to ditch bad habits when you’re young and set yourself up with a good routine that can carry you through adulthood. It’s easy to get lazy when it comes to beauty and hygiene, but it’s time to change all of that. Even if it takes you an extra five, fifteen, or even thirty minutes, it’s worth it, and your future self will thank you.

It might sound gross, but most of us are guilty of following some of these hygiene habits, and you should totally forget about them ASAP.

Makeup remover is not a cleanser.

The important thing is just making sure you take your makeup off, right? Wrong. The pads aren’t cleansing your skin — they’re just taking the makeup off. Even though it’s an extra step, you still need to cleanse as well as remove your makeup.

Clean your darn brushes!

Just because they don’t look dirty, doesn’t mean they don’t need washing. Products and bacteria build up on your brushes, which you then put on your face, causing break outs. Make sure you wash your brushes every two weeks or so, minimum.

Fabric spray is not the answer.

Just like on your makeup brushes, bacteria can build up on your sheets and pillowcases! When you lay on them every night you are transferring bacteria back onto your skin and clogging your pores, it could cause you to break out, so make sure you actually wash your sheets every week! EVERY WEEK!

Stop touching your pimples!

You know this one without me having to telling you, but as tempting as it is – do not pop your pimples. In addition to potentially scarring your face, popping pimples can cause bacteria to spread to other areas of your face, creating more breakouts. Just don’t do it anymore.

FLOSS!!!

Brushing your teeth isn’t going to cut it — you need to take the extra two minutes and floss, too. It removes bacteria and plaque from your teeth in places that your tooth brush can’t get, so if you want to maintain good oral hygiene, you better floss.

Water is not enough.

Shaving sucks in general, and spending a lot of time on it makes it even worse, but don’t just wet (or worse, dry) and shave. You should be using a gel, cream, soap, or something on there to coat your body so that you don’t cut yourself and you get a closer shave.

Up your soap game!

If you haven’t invested in a cleanser yet, it’s time to. Soaps have a high pH, so when you use a soap that has a pH of 13, it strips your skin of natural oils and lipids, and so it makes you look a lot older and makes your skin more irritated. Instead, use a beauty bar, pH neutral, or non-soap cleanser. You are an adult now, start reading the labels and educating yourself on what you are using on your body.

It might be hard to break these habits now, but trust me, you will be so thankful you did in the long run.
